About SigGen

Our Story

SigGen started with a frustration most people know too well. I was setting up email signatures for a small team and every tool I found either wanted a monthly subscription, plastered watermarks on the free tier, or forced everyone to create an account just to generate a simple HTML block. That felt wrong.

So I built something different. The idea was straightforward: pick a template, fill in your details, copy the result. No account walls. No "upgrade to remove our branding." No data leaving your browser. SigGen does exactly one thing and does it well — it turns your contact information into a clean, professional email signature you can paste into Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, or any other client.

Who's Behind This

SigGen is built and maintained by Martin Šikula, a developer based in Brno, Czech Republic. I run a small company called Šikulovi s.r.o. that builds free web tools — things like privacy policy generators and word counters. The common thread? Practical utilities that people actually need, without the usual SaaS pricing games.

I've been working with web technologies for over a decade, and email signatures are one of those deceptively complex problems. Getting HTML to render consistently across Outlook (which still uses Word's rendering engine, believe it or not), Gmail's sanitizer, and Apple Mail's quirks — that takes real testing. Every template in SigGen has been tested across all major email clients.

Privacy Is the Default, Not a Feature

Most signature generators upload your data to their servers. They store your name, email, phone number, company — and then they own that data. We took the opposite approach.

SigGen runs entirely in your browser. When you type your name or upload a photo, that information stays on your device. We don't have a database of user signatures. We don't track what you type into the form. The signature generation happens through client-side JavaScript — your data literally never hits our servers.

This isn't just a privacy checkbox. It means SigGen works offline once loaded, it's fast because there's no server roundtrip, and you don't need to trust us with sensitive business information. Your data is yours.

What Makes SigGen Different

There are dozens of email signature tools out there. Here's what sets this one apart:

  • Actually free — 15 templates, all features, no watermarks. Not "free trial" free. Just free.
  • No registration — open the page, build your signature, copy it. Done.
  • Client-side only — your data never leaves your device. Zero server storage.
  • QR codes included — generate vCard or website QR codes directly in your signature
  • Real email client testing — every template works in Gmail, Outlook (desktop + web), Apple Mail, and Thunderbird

We also provide detailed installation guides for each email client, because creating the signature is only half the battle — getting it into your email app without breaking the formatting is the other half.

The Tech Stack

SigGen is built with Next.js and React, hosted on Vercel. We use TypeScript throughout and Tailwind CSS for the interface. The signature templates themselves output clean, table-based HTML — the kind that email clients actually understand. No fancy CSS Grid or Flexbox in the output, because email rendering engines are stuck somewhere around 2005.

State management uses Zustand with localStorage persistence, so your work-in-progress signature survives browser refreshes. QR code generation happens locally through a JavaScript library. The whole application is optimized for speed — under 3 seconds to interactive on a typical connection.
